What is NEJM Clinician?
NEJM Clinician is a new digital resource that builds on what NEJM Journal Watch did best—delivering expert summaries and commentary on the most impactful clinical research – and now features:
- A new weekly edition designed to keep you informed in 30 minutes or less
- Expanded access to select NEJM reviews, clinical images, and case studies
- A mobile-friendly digital experience with easier navigation and search
What makes NEJM Clinician different from other clinical update products or services?
NEJM Clinician is:
- Curated by editors, who are also practicing physicians, not algorithms
- Designed to be read in 30 minutes or less each week
- Backed by the NEJM editorial standards for rigor and credibility
- Focused on clinical relevance for generalists
How do I access NEJM Clinician?
When it launches, you can visit clinician.nejm.org and sign up for a weekly email alert with key takeaways and direct links to the latest edition.
Will I still have access to previously published NEJM Journal Watch articles?
NEJM Journal Watch articles (Summary and Guideline Watch) will be available to subscribers on NEJM Clinician. Excepting the HIV and ID Observations medical blog by Paul Sax, MD, which will remain accessible but at a new online location, the archived medical blogs and general medicine audio will be retired.
If I'm a print subscriber, will I continue to receive my print newsletter?
Yes. Format, frequency, and content will remain the same, but all under a new name, NEJM Clinician Journal Watch Print Edition.
How is the content selected each week?
Our physician-editors review the top 150+ peer-reviewed journals each week and select articles based on clinical importance and applicability to general practice. Each one is summarized and contextualized to support real-world patient care. Likewise, NEJM reviews, cases, and images are also identified based on their importance and relevance to general medicine.
What kind of article types does NEJM Clinician publish?
NEJM Clinician features a variety of time-saving article types, including:
- Journal Watch: short articles with summaries of expert commentary*
- Guideline Watch: short analyses of new or updated clinical guidelines
- Drug Watch: updates on newly approved medications
- NEJM reviews, clinical cases, and diagnostic images
- Clinical Conversations: audio/video interviews with expert physicians
*We've renamed our research summarization articles as "Journal Watch" -- so this term now references the article type rather than the former product brand.
How is each weekly edition structured?
Each edition is organized into easy-to-browse categories "Stay Informed" and "Build Your Knowledge," while archived and specialty content can be explored via the "Browse All" feature.
